Corin Raymond Performs his Acclaimed Show BOOKWORM!
JENNIFER IREDALE & PETER GREY'S / HOUSE CONCERT, 17 Cambridge St., Victoria, BC
Bookworm is the biographical story of my childhood-time with my librarian/bookseller/history teacher father, in the years after my mother died. It’s about the power of reading aloud, and the gift of being read to. It’s a story about the stories my father told and read to me when I was a motherless boy, and the ways in which those nightly reading-sessions created the man I am today.
Bookworm is a series of monologues featuring myself, along with Ray Bradbury, Spider-Man, Rod Serling, and the Minotaur, braiding together to a climax which even I couldn’t possibly have predicted, wrapped into a single hour.
Pick of the Fringe at the 2012 Victoria and Vancouver Fringe festivals and Producer’s Choice at the London Fringe.
Better than its lovely reviews and sold-out houses, Bookworm's greatest success was cross-generational: “Fathers bring your sons. Sons bring your fathers.” – View Magazine, Hamilton, ON In many cases audience members returned second and even third viewings, bringing first their children and then their parents. "What a gift. Raymond's performance is at once intimate, openhearted, and evangelical." – The Georgia Straight, Vancouver, BC
