Corin Brings BOOKMARKS to Cochenour!

Music in the Alcove, Cochenour, ON

Message from CR: "My 2022 one-person show BOOKMARKS is a special thing, and all the more special, for me, to bring it to Cochenour, where seven-year-old-me lived when my Mom died; an event that gets braided through this award-winning 60-min performance (imagine Johnny Cash telling you the Neverending Story). BOOKMARKS won Favourite Storytelling/Spoken Word at the 2022 Victoria Fringe and Critic's Choice at the 2022 Fringe in Hamilton. This new show is a follow up to Bookworm (2011) and The Great Canadian Tire Money Caper (2014), both of which also feature Cochenour."

There'll be a set of songs after the break.

"Corin Raymond is a storyteller who by the end of the night you'll have known your whole life" –– The Globe and Mail.

Singer/storyteller Corin Raymond has been playing 6-8 pm Thursdays at the Cameron House for 17 years; well, 17 and a 1/2, if you wanna get technical. The lineup: CORIN RAYMOND, emoting from his Canadian-as-f&%k repertoire of original songs along with covers you've never heard but should; BRIAN KOBAYAKAWA, who when he's not touring with Serena Ryder or Jill Barber is killing it on upright bass in the "red-velvet twilight"; MIKE T. KERR, as impossibly-talented a guitar player as he is a one-of-a-kind human being; and TREASA LEVASSEUR, on piano and accordion, singing like a songbird and lighting the place up like a Christmas tree. Multi-instrumentalist (anything with strings, basically) CHRIS BARTOS is a regular deputy Sundowner. "Christmas lights and booze" sums up the vibe at the Cameron. As for what to expect? Corin's banter is fast and loose, the music's warm and wooden, and the audience are the nicest people around, from near and far. Best two hours you can spend in Toronto on a Thursday. PWYC stands for "Pay What You Can" (you can never pay what they're worth). 'Nuff said!

Doors 6 pm / Show 830 pm. One fat concert set to rule them all. For tickets, click on the link from the venue name above. Ontario's Corin Raymond is a troubadour, storyteller, and a singer of songs of passionate melancholy and joy whose superpower is turning your sorrows into a celebration. East Van guitarist Noah Walker (of Kitty & the Rooster) is the kind of musician the phrase "consummate professional" was invented for. Raymond and Walker have toured and played together many times and they're only just getting started.

Corin is bringing his award-winning show BOOKMARKS to Calgary just this once in 2023. If you believe him capable of delivering magic, follow your instinct on that because BOOKMARKS is a magic show made of words. BOOKMARKS is 60 min in length. After a break Corin will be joined by East Van-guitarist Noah Walker for a set of songs. Doors are at 7 pm. Tickets are limited. This performance will resonate with you the whole rest of the year and beyond. Click on "Gallery House Concerts Society" above for tickets.

Dirty Mansions Album Launch!

The London Music Club, 470 Colborne St., London

$20. Doors 700, show 8 pm. With London's BROOMSTICKS & HAMMERS!

A word about Corin Raymond's Dirty Mansions:

Two and a half years in the making, weighing in at ten songs and two bonus tracks produced by Winnipeg's Scott Nolan, accompanied by 264 pages of chords, lyrics, stories and art, this album release celebrates a project that's like Raymond's Paper Nickels, Bookworm, and his JUNO-nominated Hobo Jungle Fever Dreams all rolled into ONE. As well as being his finest song collection, Dirty Mansions is Raymond's first book launch! We hope you'll join Corin along with guitarist Mike T. Kerr, upright bassist Joe Phillips, keyboardist Treasa Levasseur, and Winnipeg's Joanna Miller on drums for this celebration that delves deeper into Raymond's literary-musical hybrid world than we've gone before. Magic guaranteed.
